Location vs Studio Shooting

"What matters the most in a setting is how it embodies the essence of the story material." ~Louis Giannetti, famous film author and professor of film studies at Case Western University

We take a great deal of care in selecting each location for your dramatic production, considering its authenticity and how it advances your story, as well as its suitability for videotaping and recording sound.

When selecting a location, there are a number of logistical observations that have to be made. Where should equipment be loaded in? Is the location quiet enough to videotape in during the daytime? Is there the option of shooting in the evening or at nighttime? What is the natural light like during the scheduled time of day to shoot? Are there any audio concerns associated with that particular time of day, for instance, truck deliveries or plane noises? The only way to circumvent most of the difficulties that can arise on a shoot, is to visit the location prior to the shoot, but at the same time of day that the shoot will occur.

When shooting in-studio is preferable, for instance, in creating a series or show that requires multi-camera switching or shooting against a chroma-key background, we work with the best and most cost effective studios in the Atlanta area. Your set may call for a very large stage or may only require a small shooting space; absolute quiet or for no sound to be recorded at all; a single-camera shoot or four cameras that can be switched live; a few simple dolly moves, or sweeping, overhead crane shots. Drawing on a variety of studios gives us the flexibility to find the best fit for your production, and at no greater cost to you than if you worked with each of these studios direct.
